Officer Lloyd Aragon

1964-2001

New Mexico State Police Officer Lloyd Aragon was killed in the line of duty August 1, 2001 on Interstate 40 east of Grants, New Mexico while attempting to apprehend a suspect driving a stolen vehicle during a pursuit.

Officer Aragon was born September 24, 1964 in Las Vegas, New Mexico. He graduated from Grants High School in 1982. He served with the New Mexico Army National Guard from 1983 to 1987 in the Air Defense Artillery.

Officer Aragon served with the Grants Police Department from 1987 until he joined the New Mexico State Police January 15, 1994. Officer Aragon was stationed in Espanola until July 29, 1995, when he transferred to Grants.  He was a member of the New Mexico State Police Canine Team.

 

Officer Aragon was an outstanding officer and received many letters of compliments from the citizens he served. He was a professional police officer and an excellent role model for all who worked by his side. He is survived by his wife, Monica, and two young children.
